WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF FOSTERING?
Simply put, you are saving lives.
Additionally, if you are considering adopting a cat for the first time, fostering is a good trial run.

IF I’M INTERESTED,
WHERE DO I START?

Please call or email:

Tel: 646-457-2130

HOW LONG WOULD IT BE FOR?
We work with you…some people are able to foster for a couple of months with a nursing mom and kittens for example and some are only able to foster for a couple of weeks due to circumstances in their life.

WHERE AND HOW DO YOU GET A FOSTER ANIMAL?
Generally most of the Anjellicle foster cats/kittens come from Animal Care & Control (ACC).  You can either go to ACC directly (either with a volunteer or alone) to select a foster animal (Anjellicle calls ACC to advise them of your visit) or a volunteer will pick up the animal(s) and bring them to your home.

CAN YOU FOSTER IF YOU HAVE PETS ALREADY?
Absolutely.  Anjellicle can assist you with introducing the foster to your other pet(s).

WHAT COSTS ARE INVOLVED?
If you are in a position to cover the cost of food/formula and litter, then that is wonderful as we are a non-profit, volunteer-run organization. We can assist you if you need help. We cover all medical expenses.

ARE FOSTER CATS/KITTENS HEALTHY?
Generally, they are.  However, due to their time in the shelter, the cats/kittens often leave with a kitty cold.  This is easily resolved with a 10-day course of antibiotics.  Anjellicle will train you on how to give medication and provide you with all the necessary medication.

HOW DO POSSIBLE ADOPTERS SEE THE FOSTER?
Anjellicle asks that you provide us with a picture of the pet, along with a brief description of their temperament (likes/dislikes) which we post to our website and others (Pet Finder).  The potential adopter contacts Anjellicle and we will arrange for the person to meet your foster in your home (if you agree) or at Spoiled Brats, our home base. In addition, ACR does adoption events every couple of weeks and your foster cats can also participate in that.

WHAT TYPE OF SUPPORT DOES ANJELLICLE OFFER FOSTER PARENTS?
We have a number of volunteers who have plenty of experience with cats or who have themselves fostered and they are available for consultation by phone or email.

In addition, our Director or Coordinator works with every foster parent at the beginning to ensure a positive and rewarding experience.
FOSTERING:  A GREAT WAY TO VOLUNTEER!

WHY FOSTER?
Every year, thousands of cats, including kittens, which are not adopted, are euthanized in the city shelters.  One way to change this is by increasing the number of adoptions.  Fostering allows Anjellicle Cats to get more cats/kittens out of the city shelters and on the path to adoption.

WHAT IS FOSTERING?
Fostering is bringing a cat/kittens into your home and taking care of them until they are adopted out.
We are a volunteer organization, please consider donating to help defray our medical and food costs.
